    Oberste's burst of offense propels Ponies

    Matt Oberste supplied three hits, including a tiebreaking single in the eighth, to lead the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to a series-clinching 3-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Wednesday afternoon at Canal Park. The Ponies claimed their fourth win in five games and stretched their lead to 2-1/2 games for the final playoff position in the Eastern Division.

    Gsellman to return to Binghamton for rehab Thursday

    Robert Gsellman, a member of Binghamton’s pitching staff in 2015 and 2016, will return to the Southern Tier to make a Major League rehab appearance in relief for the Rumble Ponies at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday night at 6:35 PM. Gsellman is returning to action following a left hamstring strain he suffered on June 27. Gsellman, 24, made his Major League debut with the New York Mets last season.

    Rumble Ponies Pitcher Chris Flexen received the call of a lifetime Monday evening, that he's headed to the major leagues.  The New York Mets called up the 23-year-old right-hander after placing Zack Wheeler on the 10-Day Disabled List with a stress reaction in his right arm, retroactive to July 23.  Flexen will make his major league debut for the Mets as he gets the start on Thursday in San Diego.

    Conlon, bats demolish Rubber Ducks in nightcap after dropping opener

    PJ Conlon fired his third shutout of the season and the Binghamton Rumbles Ponies backed him with 14 hits in a 13-0 seven-inning win over the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Conlon became the first Binghamton pitcher in 24 years to record a trio of shutouts in one season and Binghamton matched a franchise record for their largest shutout win in team history. Binghamton dropped the opener, a resumption of a game suspended in May, 6-3.

    PJ Conlon fired his third shutout of the season and the Binghamton Rumbles Ponies backed him with 14 hits in a 13-0 seven-inning win over the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Conlon became the first Binghamton pitcher in 24 years to record a trio of shutouts in one season and Binghamton matched a franchise record for their largest shutout win in team history. Binghamton dropped the opener, a resumption of a game suspended in May, 6-3.

    The games scheduled for Monday night pitting the Binghamton Rumble Ponies against the Akron RubberDucks have been postponed due to inclement weather. The Ponies and RubberDucks will attempt to kick off their series on Tuesday at 5:35 PM. The teams will resume a suspended game in the bottom of the third inning with the RubberDucks leading 6-3. That contest will be played to a completion of seven innings and will be followed by another seven-inning game.

    The games scheduled for Monday night pitting the Binghamton Rumble Ponies against the Akron RubberDucks have been postponed due to inclement weather.     The Eastern League announced Saturday that the Richmond Flying Squirrels will host the 2019 All-Star Game.  The Binghamton Rumble Ponies #BingItHome Campaign to host the league's midsummer showcase was for 2019 or 2020.  Team owner John Hughes says Binghamton is still in the running for 2020 and fans can expect an announcement soon.

    Binghamton Rumble Ponies Catcher Tomas Nido will be headed to Miami for Sunday's MLB Futures Game.  He'll join former B-Met Amed Rosario on the World Team for Sunday's exhibition.  The game has been held annually before the MLB All-Star Game since 1999 and has featured many players that have become Major League All-Stars. Nido is the latest player to make the trip from Binghamton and said he's excited for the chance to play among some of the game's greatest prospects.
