    Seton Unable To Recover From Mendon's Third Quarter Rally In Class A Final

    Binghamton, N.Y. - Seton Catholic Central girls basketball looked to grab their second state title in three seasons and third overall on Sunday morning at Hudson Valley Community College. Only three Saints scored in the first half of the Class A final against Mendon High School. Seniors Marina Maerkl and Julia Hauer combined for 22 points heading into the second half, scoring 22 of the Saints 27 points.

For the first time since 2006, the Purple Tornadoes were crowned Section IV Class B champions with a 66-42 win over the Owego Indians. Walking onto the court, both teams felt like they needed to prove something.

However, for four local teams they'll look to end their regular season as the STAC champions. Now, although the big picture here is of course the playoffs, Friday night could be an extremely special night for the boys and girls Owego basketball teams.

    Endicott, N.Y. - Junior Tiger Bowler Ashley Cicciarelli set a national record on Saturday, February 9 during the Section IV Class A Tournament. Cicciarelli bowled a series of 258,296 and 300, which became the highest girls three game series in the history of high school bowling nationwide. Ashley's 300 game and 854 series have been added to the National 300/800 Honor Roll for high school bowling.

    Endwell, N.Y. - Maine Endwell 's Ashlynn McKnight signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Division II Roberts Wesleyan College. The Senior Captain has been a member of the M-E varsity basketball team since the 9th grade and currently averages 20 points a game. Ashlynn was also selected to the Basketball Coaches of NY Section IV team.  "I feel like Maine-Endwell has pushed me to become a better student, person and player" said McKnight.

    Binghamton, N.Y. - The (9-3) Seton Catholics Central Saints hosted the (7-5) Susquehanna Valley Sabers on Thursday night. Tommy Dempsey and Brett Rumpel led the Saints to their 59-42 victory over the Sabers. Dempsey scored 22 points, 21 of those points came from six 3's. Rumpel was right behind at 21 points. On the other hand, Jarred Freije led the Sabers with 12 points.

The tournament started Thursday and ended Friday with the 2018 Wildcat Invitational Championship game against Maine-Endwell and Johnson City.

    SECTION IV - Section IV football's regular season has come to an end. Teams were either trying to win their division or fighting for a better seed in the post season. All in all, it was a great weekend of football. Chenango Forks clinched the division title after defeating class B foe, Maine-Endwell. Vestal handed Elmira their first loss of the season and Susquehanna Valley won their division in Class C after finishing 8-0 on the regular season.

On Tuesday, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association announced earlier today that they have partnered up with the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal.

    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -Legion Post teams from around the Southern Tier took part in the double-elimination tournament at MacArthur Park in Binghamton, Wednesday, with Oneonta Post 259 Green Wave and Hillcrest 1194. Oneonta defeated Hillcrest 7-2 and move on to the District 6 Championship game.

    Union-Endicott Legend Frank Angeline Passes Away

    Earlier today Fran Angeline passed away in Eastern Pennsylvania, according to WNBF news. Angeline was the head football coach at Union-Endicott from 1960-92, as well as the boys tennis coach. It was in football where Angeline led the Tigers to be the number one ranked team in New York State throughout the 1979 and 1989 season.

    Binghamton, N.Y. - It was last season in 2017 when the New York State Public High School Athletic Association brought back eight-man football after more than 30 years. Today Section IV football announced that Elmira, Notre Dame will join the four other Section IV teams in the league.

    This past weekend Maine-Endwell softball won their third consecutive state title with an 8-0 victory over Iroquois. So, today they celebrated their success with a victory parade, starting at the Endwell fire department and ending at Maine-Endwell school.

    High school sports officially came to an end over the weekend. Today the Second Annual Phil Fox Memorial Senor Showcase was played at Union-Endicott high school. Eighteen different schools, filled with local baseball and softball star seniors competed in a red and blue game, a fun and competitive way to end the season off on a good note.
