Five B-Mets invited to MLB camp
1/9/2014 (Updated 1/10/2014 10:52:53 AM)As the days keep ticking down to when pitchers and catchers report for the start of Spring Training, the list of players the New York Mets will consider for their roster continues to grow.
Every member of the 40-man roster will be invited, including former B-Mets Jacob de Grom, Josh Edgin, Jeurys Familia, Dillon Gee, Gonzalez Germen, Erik Goeddel, Matt Harvey (inj.), Jenrry Mejia, Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell, Jeff Walters, Zach Wheeler, Juan Centeno, Travis d'Arnaud, Ike Davis, Wilmer Flores, Zach Lutz, Daniel Murphy, Josh Satin, Ruben Tejada, Wilfredo Tovar, David Wright, Matt den Dekker, Lucas Duda, Juan Lagares, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and Cesar Puello.
But every year, several players that are highly regarded as having a future with the club are invited to big league spring training in the hopes of continuing their development, or even making the 40-man roster. This year, among the non-roster invitees are five members of the 2013 B-Mets. Outfielder Cory Vaughn, infielder Danny Muno, and pitchers Noah Syndergaard, Rafael Montero, and Jack Leathersich have all earned invites to camp.
Joining them in camp are Dustin Lawley and newly signed free agents Anthony Seratelli, Taylor Teagarden, Miguel Socolovich, Joel Carreno and Brandon Allen.
The Binghamton Mets open up their season on April 3rd at home against Akron.
UPDATE (11:58pm): B-Mets pitcher Logan Verrett has also receive camp invite.
UPDATE (Fri. 10:45): B-Mets infielder Eric Campbell, and pitchers Corey Mazzoni, Chase Bradford, and Adam Kolarek have also received invites to camp. A total of 20 players have been invited to camp: Pitchers Bradford, Carreno, John Church, Jeremy Hefner, Montero, Miguel Socolovich, Syndergaard, Mazzoni, Verrett, Kolarek, and Leathersich. Catchers Teagarden and Kevin Plawecki. Infielders Campbell, Allen, Seratelli, Muno. Outfielders Lawley, Vaughn, and Brandon Nimmo.
