Crews in Delaware County are investigating multiple calls for a plane crash on Herrick Hollow Road near Pine Swamp near the town of Masonville.

Calls started coming in around 1:25 p.m. Residents in the area reported seeing an aircraft struggling to maintain altitude.

The Binghamton National Weather Service also requested a spot forecast in the Masonville area for an aircraft search around 2:30 this afternoon.

Debris was found, but officials are unsure if the plane crashed.

"I believe we'll be able to find the plane in the next few hours," said Captain Mark Barbera of NYSP Troop D. "If it has, in fact, crashed, and it hasn't made a landing somewhere I think we're able to find it in pretty short time."

There are five people on board the aircraft who officials on the scene believe were heading to Virginia.
