Binghamton University hosted a conference with SUNY Schools to promote the university-assisted community schools initiative.

Community schools aims to create better quality of life and learning opportunities for students and the surrounding communities.

Over 25 SUNY schools were in attendance, creating a plan for the nation's first public university system of community schools.

The universities believe conferences like these are the first step to creating a better system for the next generation of learners.

Laura Bronstein, Dean of the College of Community and Public Affairs at Binghamton University says," What the community school initiative does is it actually provides support so that all students, irrespective of what kind of background they're there from, can have the same advantages of the same ability to actually achieve in school as students who come from more privileged backgrounds."
