BU Graduate Helps Beautify Binghamton with a New Mural
Back here in Binghamton, one Binghamton University graduate is doing her part to make downtown just a bit more colorful by enlisting help creating a new mural.
Binghamton University graduate Caitlin Davey came up with the idea for the mural as a part of her capstone project to create a river ecosystem mural.
Over the last year, Davey planned the mural and proposed the idea to the city to get it approved, and work began this year.
Local artist James McIlroy is painting the mural in the tunnel at Confluence Park.
They hope to complete the mural before the Binghamton 2 Degrees festival in August.
"To see the care that she's brought to it is really amazing to me because this is my home and this is the place that I visit almost every day. So I really love that she is making a lasting mark and took that initiative to put a proposal through. I mean, it's taken over a year for her to do this whole process," said Cory Rusin, Director of Recruitment and Internship Placement for the Masters of Public Administration and Sustainable Communities Programs.
