Excitement is in the air at Animal Adventure Park! Two hyena cubs were introduced to the public today.

The park says because of complicated female anatomy, hyena births are highly dangerous for both mom and cub.

"The propagation or breeding of spotted hyenas and the very risky birthing process and then the sibling rivalry after they're born makes any time we have a successful birth and then successful rearing a home run, it just doesn't happen," explained owner Jordan Patch. "The odds are against them. 60% mortality rate usually with hyena cubs. So the fact that we avoided this is a big win for the park."

Animal adventure says the worries don’t stop after the birth; in the wild, hyena cubs will often fight, killing the less dominant one.

The cubs just marked their six month birthday.
