A Broome County woman has been indicted in the death of a one-year-old child in the City of Binghamton last spring.

According to the Broome County District Attorney, Tiease Cooper has been charged with one count each of Manslaughter in the 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The D.A. says in early April 2023, it is alleged that Cooper recklessly caused the death of a 13-month-old child by knowingly possessing and knowingly allowing other persons to possess fentanyl at a residence located on Saratoga Avenue in a manner that allowed the child to ingest fentanyl.

Cooper was arraigned on May 15th and entered a not guilty plea to all three counts. She was released under the supervision of the Pretrial Release Program with specified conditions of release.
