Section IV has released the upcoming playoff schedule for softball and baseball.

The Section IV softball tournaments begin on Thursday, May 16th as the Class B and D tournaments kick off with their sub-quarterfinal matchups. The Class C Tournament will play their sub-quarter games on Friday, May 17th. Classes AAA and A will only have one game, the Championship game, to be played on Saturday, May 25th. Class AA will begin on Wednesday, the 22nd as Union-Endicott travels to Horseheads with the winner playing Vestal. Every softball championship, except for Class C, is scheduled to be played at Greenlight Grand Slam Park (formerly Bagsai). Class C will be held at Union-Endicott on Friday, May 24th.  

For baseball, the tournaments begin on Friday, May 17th. For Class A, it will be a double-elimination format with 1. Maine-Endwell, 2. Owego, 3. Johnson City and 4. Windsor, which begins on Friday. Every other tournament will be single-elimination. Class B will play their lone sub-quarterfinal matchup between Edison and Sidney on Friday while Class C has four sub-quarters happening on Friday. Classes AAA and AA only contain two teams each and will play a best-of-three series.

To qualify for the Section IV softball tournament, teams must play a minimum of 10 games and boast a 40% win percentage overall of 50% for their class schedule. If only one team in a class meets those standards then the second-seeded team is given the option to play in the Section IV Championship. Seeding is based on the Section's point system which is listed here:

5 points for a win over a school higher in class
4 points for a win over a school in the same class
3 points for a win over a school in a lower class
2 points for a loss to a school in a higher class
1 point for a loss to a school in the same class
0 points for a loss to a school in a lower class

To qualify for baseball, teams must win 40% of their games and/or 50% in their respective class. Seedings is based on this system:

5 points for a win over a school higher in class.
4 points for a win over a school in the same class.
3 points for a win over a school in a lower class.
2 points for a loss to a school in a higher class.
1 point for a loss to a school in the same class.
0 points for a loss to school in a lower class.
