"It's gratitude for all the fans," said Black Bears owner Andreas Johansson. "It's immense pride of the guys that we have in this room."

The Binghamton Black Bears are Commissioner's Cup Champions for the first time in their franchise history, sweeping the Carolina Thunderbirds in a best-of-five series.

"I was just screaming and I was on the verge of tears," said Black Bears goalie Connor McAnanama. "I'm just [expletive] happy to be here, man. This is unbelievable. All in all, I had a great bond with everybody here, and it feels like everyone here is my brother on this team. Fans are amazing, and so I'm just overwhelmed by emotion. It's crazy."

The Black Bears trailed by two goals in the first period, but rallied to tie the game up by the end of the second period.

"I thought we came out pretty good in the first five minutes, but we just needed to get back to normal," said Black Bears head coach Brant Sherwood. "We're a little jittery turning pucks over at the blue line. I thought we managed the puck well after that. Had a little bit more confidence with our play."

In the third period, Gavin Yates gave the Black Bears their first lead of the game with a rebound shot.

"We just stuck to the game plan," Yates said. "I mean, these boys are battling every night. We just stuck to the game plan. We know we got the team on the ice. We got the job done tonight."

The team did it all in front of a sold-out crowd at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.

"Especially in this barn," Yates said. "It is near impossible to come in here and beat us. I think we have the most resilient team here and we showed it tonight."

Gavin Yates was named the Playoff MVP for the Bears.

"I mean, this is every kid's dream right here," Yates said. "This is awesome right here. I'm going to live this out tonight, maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after that. But this is awesome right there."
