On Wednesday, May 8, 12 City of Binghamton Police Officers were honored for their exceptional actions for public safety at the 2024 Police Awards Ceremony.

The honoree's actions include saving a 10-month-old who couldn't breathe, removing illegal firearms, and high-speed chases for stolen vehicles. Today's ceremony shined a light on the unnoticed work and the dangers police officers face every day on the job.

"We should also recognize that today's awards are what we can share publicly, that for every public recognition our officers get, there are many more investigations," City of Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham said. "Operation and arrests that go unnoticed. Yet our officers still dedicate their lives to the mission of public safety, knowing full well that their contributions may never be noticed beyond just a handful of people. And we owe them our gratitude for that."
