The reigning NEC Coach of the Year, Mary Grimes, has been named the next coach of the Binghamton University women's basketball program.

Grimes served as Head Coach of Le Moyne for the past three seasons where she bolstered the Dolphins to a 14-2 NEC record in the program's first season at the Division I level. The Dolphins were runner-ups in the NEC tournament and made the WNIT.

"This is a great hire," Director of Athletics Eugene Marshall, Jr. said per BUBearcats.com. "Mary is a proven winner with a history of recruiting the best and brightest student-athletes. What she did at Albany, Syracuse, Xavier and Le Moyne are true testaments to her ability to be a successful coach at Binghamton. We're excited to welcome Mary to campus and have her get started developing relationships with the team and hit the ground running."

Grimes has familiarity with the America East, serving as an assistant with in-state rival, UAlbany for six seasons. Prior to that, Grimes was an assistant at Syracuse University. Grimes played college hoops at Siena College and was a two-year captain.

BU "parted ways" with previous head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord back on March 29th.

Grimes will formally be introduced in a press conference on Friday at 2 pm at the Events Center.
