The Binghamton Bulldogs have consistently been at the top of the American Basketball Association since their inception, but a Championship has eluded them. This season, however, may be the Dawgs' best chance to take home the whole thing.

A season ago, the Binghamton Bulldogs were the number one team in the ABA but were upset in the Northeast Regional by the Providence Pirates. This season, though, Binghamton got their revenge.

"It becomes business as usual," said head coach Vince Spruill "You go through all your pre-game. You get yourself ready to take care of business. Once that ball goes up in the air, it's just basketball"

A 111-108 overtime victory, a flip from last year and this playoff run has a lot of them.

"We've been through a lot of ups and downs," said third-year forward Jimmy Walker. "Those ups and downs, it's really a lot of mental things that can mess with you during basketball. So if you just keep your mental right like the team did and now we're on our way to Alabama."

In the regular season, Binghamton went a combined 0-4 against rivals, the Buffalo Xtreme and Wyoming Valley Clutch.

"We really turned it up in practice," said second-year forward Eric Edwards.

Turned up all the way into double-digit playoff wins, beating the Xtreme by 19 and the Clutch by 13.

"Coming back and playing them here for the third time in the playoffs, it's a different mentality," Spruill said. "There's not many teams that are 40 points better than you. And so when playoff time comes, you lock in and it's a one-and-done kind of situation. We go out there and we do what we do here in Binghamton, handle business and win games."

And for Eric, a Binghamton native, and BHS Alum, he knows he's making both himself and his city proud.

"It's not a lot of people that that that say they can do this from here," Edwards said. "And just being from here and being able to play at this level and being able to win at this level, it's amazing. And then the guys that I have on the team with me, it just made it even easier. And it's it's been special these last two years, honestly."

With a chance to make this season even more special, just two wins away from the program's first-ever ABA Championship.

"I think we take it all honestly," Edwards said.

The Bulldogs travel to Mobile, Alabama to play their semifinal game against the Mississippi Silverbacks on Friday with the championship game on Sunday.

"We're locked in," Spruill said. "We're all we got, we're all we need."
