A Chenango Forks man is charged after a series of domestic disputes in the Town of Chenango.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a Marshman Road residence on March 26th, where the victim told of repeated incidents that involved verbal and physical disputes. One included threats on her life with a firearm.

The office says the victim claimed Christopher G. Merwin made the threats and the final one occurred on March 14th, when Merwin choked and threatened her. An Extreme Risk Protection Order was granted by the Town of Chenango Court.

While the order was being served to Merwin, a loaded, 9mm "ghost" gun, along with a small container of meth was found.

Merwin was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree
  • Criminal Obstruction of Breathing in the 2nd degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree
  • Harassment in the 2nd degree

Merwin remains in the Broome County Sheriff's Correctional Facility.
