Binghamton University baseball opens up the America East season with an 8-1 win over NJIT thanks to stellar pitching from Gabe Driscoll and four RBI between Logan Haskell and Tommy Reifler.

Gabe Driscoll went 5.2 innings, allowing one home run across his tenure on the mound. The senior struck out six Highlanders and allowed four hits across 105 pitches. John Lumpinski came into the game midway through the sixth, eventually working to a bases-loaded jam. The Highlanders rolled a ball into the infield as shortstop Mike Stellrecht flipped to Isaiah Corry at second before a strike to Conner Griffin at first ended the inning. Lumpinski finished the game allowing two hits over 3.1 IP, striking out three batters. Driscoll has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his five starts this year, after today his ERA stands at 4.24. Lumpinski lowered his season ERA to 5.25.

Offensively, BU scored eight runs and only produced two extra-base hits. Senior outfielder Tommy Reifler went three-for-four with a pair of RBIs at the top of the lineup while SV grad Logan Haskell brought in one run thanks to an error and another with a double-down-the-line. Reifler is batting .292 on the season while Haskell produces at .256, but the most impressive note about the Conklin grad is that he has yet to strike out this season through 39 at-bats.

Binghamton continues its season on Saturday against NJIT at 2 pm.
