UPDATE: The JC district says that out of an abundance of caution, the high school will not allow visitors into the building for the rest of the day and all after-school activities in the high school and the elementary/middle school have been canceled.

Johnson City Police say a 15-year-old is in custody after a stabbing Monday morning at the Johnson City High School.

Police say the stabbing occurred on school grounds prior to the start of the school day. The victim, an 18-year-old male, sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to UHS Wilson Hospital for treatment.

The 15-year-old is facing charges of Assault in the 1st degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree.

A lockdown was issued briefly at the Johnson City High School this morning. All operations at the high school have resumed as normal and the high school and the elementary/middle school are operating as normal.
