Black Bears Fall To River Sharks In Sunday Matinee Matchup
Binghamton would drop their second straight matchup of the weekend road-trip in a 6-3 loss to Elmira at First Arena on Sunday afternoon.
It would be a back and forth first two periods of play where Binghamton would open the scoring less than three minutes into the contest on a goal by Austin Thompson. Elmira would bury the next two goals both midway through the first and second period to jump out to their first lead of the contest.
The Black Bears would answer with Andrew Uturo tallying his second goal in three games with Binghamton to even things back at 2 heading into the third period.
It would be a very heated third period which would eventually lead to Gavin Yates and Dakota Bohn both getting sent to the dressing rooms early with game misconducts.
Elmira would roll in the third period gaining the lead 1:48 into the third period, followed by a shorthanded and power play goal late in the third period to make it a 5-2 River Sharks lead.
Binghamton would get a goal to cut back the deficit to 5-3 with a goal from Jesse Anderson, however Elmira would add an empty net goal to put the game away.
The Black Bears fall to 23-5-6-0-1 on the season but still remain in first place in the Empire Division.
Binghamton will return back to First Arena for another matchup against Elmira on Wednesday, February 14 with a 7:05 P.M. scheduled puck drop. The next home contest for the Black Bears will be Friday, February 23 against Watertown.
