Former Judge Candidate Found Guilty in Delaware County
A former candidate for Davenport Town Judge has been found guilty of Falsely Reporting an Incident to 911.
According to the Delaware County District Attorney, George Sydlar of Davenport was found guilty on January 19th. He had been accused of calling 911 and reporting that his neighbor had committed a crime when the neighbor had not done so last summer. This occurred approximately 24 times after Sydlar was informed by police that any dispute he had with the neighbor was civil and not criminal.
The case was tried in the Town of Kortright because at the time of his arrest, Sydlar was running for Davenport Town Judge and he recused himself, citing a potential conflict of interest.
After Sydlar was found guilty, a pre-sentence investigation was ordered and the case was adjourned until March for sentencing. Sydlar faces up to one year in jail.
