A Chenango County project is one of two projects that was awarded a total of $8.8 million.

Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. was awarded $4.3 million to develop 17 units, including 50 beds of permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless individuals and families in New Berlin.

Seven units will be preserved and the other 10 units will be constructed. The project also includes the moderate rehabilitation of three buildings and the gut rehabilitation of another.

The $8.8 million comes from the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance's Homeless Housing and Assistance Program. This will help create or preserve 100,000 affordable homes across the state.
