Preparation for the Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation begins well in advance, making sure there are enough souvlaki and honey puffs to go around.

"Preparation is fun because we all get together prior to the event of the other, the helping hands and the community. So that's always fun because we get that action back going. So the excitement is building when we get stuff ready," said

ANASTOS SAYS THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT MAKES THE EVENT HAPPEN.

"It's all about tradition. And we talk about tradition every year, and we never forget about that. But this year's theme is Meraki, which is everything from the soul and everything from the heart within. So it's a lot of the Greek community working within their body and soul to make this a success."

THE TRADITION IS BEING PASSED ALONG TO THE NEXT GENERATION, MANY OF WHO YOU CAN FIND DANCING OR HELPING SERVE FOOD.

"Now we have the next generation of kids coming up, so we have our kids, my nephews, our sons, everyone's sons and daughters helping out in between dancing. So they're coming and they're working, you know, on the grill, in the kitchen, making salads, cleaning up."

THE EVENT RUNS THROUGH THIS WEEKEND. PARKING IS AVAILABLE AT THE CHURCH, BUT THERE IS ALSO A SHUTTLE RUNNING FROM THE NYSEG PARKING LOT.
