A Binghamton man is arrested after leading police on a vehicle and foot chase through the Town of Chenango and Johnson City.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, vehicle was spotted doing 90 MPH in a 55 MPH zone in the Town of Dickinson and a chase ensued on Upper Front Street, Interstate 81, Route 17, CFJ Boulevard, Gannett Drive, Lester Avenue, Lincoln Avenue and Division Street, where the speeding vehicle collided with a patrol vehicle, leaving both vehicles disabled.

A foot chase began and the suspect was caught and taken into custody. He was identified as 22-year-old Houston S. Alexander.

It was determined the vehicle Alexander had been operating belonged to his girlfriend's grandmother and he had used it without permission.

Alexander was charged by the sheriff's office with the following:

  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree
  • Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
  • Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree
  • Obstructing Government Administration in the 2nd degree

Additionally, Alexander was charged by Johnson City Police with Resisting Arrest.
