A locally owned bakery in Endicott will close its doors for good at the end of May.

The owner of Felix Roma Bakery at 2 Page Avenue notified employees in a letter on Thursday, according to Greater Binghamton Today Facebook post.

Employees who were outside the bakery told a Fox 40 News reporter that they were stunned to hear the news, including one worker who would have marked his 10-year anniversary at the bakery in June.

The bakery's last day is May 26. Owner Felix Roma said in the letter that the decision was 'very difficult' and based on economic decisions.

The business is one of the oldest local bakeries, having been open for 75 years.
