Traffic Stop on Stolen Vehicle Leads to Drug Arrest

A Binghamton man is facing several drug charges after he was stopped while driving a stolen vehicle near the Love's Travel Stop in Kirkwood.
According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, multiple plastic bags containing a white substance and a digital scale were seen near the center console.
The driver, Jorge M. Cortina, Jr., claimed it was cocaine for personal use.
In all, 11.3 grams of cocaine, the scale, and over $1,400 were recovered from the vehicle.
Cortina was charged with the following:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell in the 3rd Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 1st Degree
