After an impressive first season as the head coach of Binghamton University’s Men’s Basketball team, Levell Sanders is garnering some national recognition.

Sanders has been named one of the 15 finalists for the 2022 Joe B. Hall Award. The award is given each season to the top first-year coach in Division I college basketball.

After being picked to finish last in the America East pre-season poll, Sanders led the Bearcats to the Conference Semifinals with a 12-17 record overall and 8-10 in conference play. The 8 conference wins was their most since 2010. The Bearcats also had a first team all-conference selection in junior guard Jacob Falko for the first time in 12 years. Forward Christian Hinckson became the first Binghamton All-Defensive Team selection in 4 years. Increased success on the court led to more fans coming out to the Events Center as Binghamton drew an average of 2,023 fans for conference games, the third highest in the America East.

The winner will be announced in conjunction with the NCAA Championship game April 1st in New Orleans.
