Following the conclusion of an incredible run this season, the Chenango Forks Football team was recognized in a big way.

County Executive Jason Garnar visited with the Blue Devils to declare December 7th 2021 Chenango Forks Football Day in Broome County. The honor comes as a result of Forks Class C State Title captured on Friday in a 21-0 victory over Schuylerville in the Carrier Dome.

After winning both their state semi-final and state title match-ups by 21 points each, Blue Devils Head Coach Dave Hogan says the team was peaking at the right time.

“I think we probably played our best game,” says Hogan. “Certainly, on defense we did and our front line offensively is just awesome. Our front 6 on defense is awesome, just so proud of them. Those guys up front work so hard and they don’t get the accolades they deserve not even close.”

The State Title is Chenango Forks second in a row after winning the Class B crown in 2019, and the 7th in school history. While the players are disappointed they didn’t have the chance to play for 3 state titles in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are thankful for this season and for the response from their community.

“It’s been unbelievable, it wasn’t even an hour after we won and we already an escort from firetrucks,” says Senior Lineman Tyler Hayes. “Everybody in the community popped out, it was just awesome.”

“You know it’s Forks so they love us and love our football team,” says Senior Running back Dubbs Haqq. “I feel like everyone is just together right now and having a good time.”
