A pair of local runners continued their dominance at the collegiate level this weekend.

Binghamton University senior Emily Mackay and grad student Dan Schaffer swept the men’s and women’s America East individual cross-country titles. It’s the first time since 2001 that the same school won both titles at the meet.

Mackay, a Union-Endicott high school graduate, notched a first place time of 16:24 in the 5,000 meter event was the fastest time by any women’s runner in the history of the America East Meet. This was her second straight conference title.

Schaffer, a Maine-Endwell grad, his winning time in the 8,000 meter event was 23:55 which was 7 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Binghamton heads to the NCAA Northeast Region meet on Friday November 12th at Franklin Park in Boston.
