Start of High Risk Winter Sports Delayed to 2021
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has announced that the start of high risk winter sports has been delayed.
Originally slated to begin practicing on November 30th, high risk winter sports such as basketball, ice hockey and wrestling will be moved to January 4th. Low risk sports such as indoor track, bowling and swimming and diving will still begin practicing on on the 30th. Contests can begin for the low risk sports once student-athletes have participated in the required number of practices. In a statement New York State Public High School Athletic Association Executive Director Dr.Robert Zayas says “We continue to make these types of decisions based upon readily available information and communication with state officials.”
