For the second season in a row, a Binghamton University freshman has taken home the America East Rookie of the year Award. Freshman forward George Tinsley claimed this year's award after sophomore guard Sam Sessoms won it last season. Tinsley was the top freshman scorer in the conference averaging 11.6 points per game and was third overall in the America East in rebounding hauling in 7.4 boards per game. He won Rookie of the Week honors 3 times and led the nation in minutes logged for all freshman.

Joining Tinsley on the conference's All-Rookie team is fellow freshman Brenton Mills. Mills was the third leading scorer among freshman in the America East averaging 9.7 points a game.

Last season's Rookie of the year Sessoms earned Second Team All-Conference honors for his play this season. Sessoms was the conference leader in points per game with 19.4 and was also tied for the lead in assists per game dishing 4.8 per contest. So while 2019-2020 wasn't the season they hoped for, with their 3 leading scorers, all underclassmen, earning All-Conference honors it looks like the Bearcats are building towards something to get excited about.
