On March 8th, 2018, two people entered the apartment at 23 Oak Street in Binghamton, but only one came back out. All of that was caught on surveillance video from cameras positioned on the house. That footage is a big piece of the case Binghamton police built against Orlando Tercero, who was charged with murdering the girl seen with him in the footage: 22-year-old Haley Anderson.

That surveillance footage was played for the courtroom in Nicaragua, where Tercero is standing trial. Just like the first day of testimony in this case, Anderson's family, friends, and the media were able to watch the proceedings on a video screen in the District Attorney's office. Witnesses were taken into a separate room and sat in front of a web cam to give their testimony in this case with help from translators.

Binghamton police investigators say Tercero strangled Anderson sometime in the morning on March 8th before fleeing the country the next day. Tercero was caught once again on surveillance footage at JFK airport where they say he boarded a plane to Nicaragua just four hours before Anderson's body was found in his bed.

Police say they believe Tercero tried to commit suicide after killing Anderson and left behind a note apologizing to his family for what he did.

Surveillance video from JFK airport shows Tercero walking in just four hours before police discovered Anderson's body in his apartment.

Also taking the stand to testify, Dr. James Terzian explained what he found when he performed an autopsy on Anderson. Terzian rattled off a long list of injuries to her body that he says all point to manual strangulation. He says there were finger marks on both sides of her neck as well as injuries to her lungs and neck muscles.

Tercero was captured by Nicaraguan authorities and charged with Anderson's murder both in that country and in Broome County. The United States' request to bring Tercero back to Binghamton to face trial was denied in August of this year.

Testimony will continue on October 22nd.
