Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil Off to First All-Star Game

Both Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil will be heading to their first All-Star Game on July 9 in Cleveland, OH. Alonso, in his rookie season, and McNeil, in his second, were standouts for the Rumble Ponies last season.
Pete Alonso is the first Mets rookie position player to head to an All-Star Game, adding to his already impressive rookie campaign. Only three other Mets rookies have been invited the game, including Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Dwight Gooden. He will also be competing in the Home Run Derby, fitting for the record-breaking slugger. So far, Alonso has hit 28 home runs, breaking the franchise record.
