Making history on Tuesday, 19-year-old Benjamin Reynolds was sworn in as Johnson City Village Trustee. Reynolds, a democrat, is the youngest ever elected official in Broome County history and one of the youngest in New York State.

Reynolds was 18 when he won the seat on the village board by 5 votes. He says he wants to be a voice for young people living in the village.

"I'm ready to get to work, I'm really happy that we had such a great turnout with so many people to support both of us being sworn in and I really look forward to working with the board to make positive change here in the village," says Reynolds.

Republican Martin Meaney was also sworn in for another term on the board. Meaney previously served as trustee before he ran for mayor in 2017.
