Every week, you, the high school football fans choose which game should be Fox 40's Game of the Week. For Week 3, you chose the Chenango Forks Blue Devils and the Owego Free Academy Indians for a Section IV Class B challenge.

The Blue Devils (3-0) traveled to the newly installed turf field of Owego Free Academy (2-1), Friday, and handed the Indians their first loss of the 2018 season, 22-10.

Although it was the Indians that grabbed the first points of the night with a first-drive field goal, the Blue Devils marched back to recapture the lead shortly after and never relinquished it.

During their previous game against Norwich, Chenango Forks' RB/LB Lucas Scott emerged as the game's MVP tying a Forks' football game record with 5 TD. But in Friday's matchup with the Indians, QB Jakob Topa was the player to watch.

Facing a 3rd down on his own 38 yard-line, Topa took a direct snap on his team's second drive and scrambled for a great pick up of 15 yards to get the first-down and keep the Blue Devils pushing into the redzone. Eventually leading his way to the 1 yard line, Topa would hand off a touchdown to Lucas Scott to begin the Blue Devils rally with 10:21 left in the first quarter.

Also getting in on the scoring action, Stephen Shepard bounced into the endzone on a sweep. He would cap off the first half with a 21 yard TD run.

But the play of the game had to go to Jakob Topa in the third quarter (3:57). On 2nd down from his own 14 yard line, Topa elected to keep the ball on a QB option. Shedding off 4 defenders, he scrambled from one side of the field to the other, only to be met right at the goal-line by Owego's Beckett Hafer. But it was Topa that would not be stopped, scoring on an 86 yard run to give the Blue Devils its final points of the night, 25-10.

Chenango Forks improved to 3-0 on the season, while Owego fell to 2-1. The Blue Devils return to action Friday, September 21, traveling to Oneonta for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Owego will look to return to their winning ways Friday, welcoming the 2-1 Chenango Valley Warriors for another 7:00 p.m. game.
