Binghamton University's new Women's basketball head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord made her rounds to almost all of the local media today, including Fox 40. The Rochester native brings a fun, outspoken and passionate energy to the community. Her basketball intelligence and desire to win is bar none. However, the importance of family and chemistry is right next to the importance of winning.

Right from the beginning Ord emphasized the importance of family and what it has meant to her throughout her entire life. Of course as fans we pray and hope she can be the one to bring championships to the Bearcats program. But, first, it's important to know why the values of chemistry, family and coming together mean so much to Ord. So, the question, of course, who exactly is Bethann Shapiro Ord?

"The love of basketball came from every body, my father, I sat behind his bench as a kid, he was the men's coach at Monroe Community College and my mom was just as involved" said Ord.

"I didn't want to get away from basketball and had an opportunity to work at the school where my mother was the men and Women's tennis coach and the head coach there needed an assistant, so I had to move back home because you didn't make very much back then and worked in the city school district as a substitute boys gym teacher and all we did was play ball" said Ord.

Bethann Shapiro Ord is looking forward to bringing a fast. up beat tempo game filled with scoring a lot of points. "We're gonna have a lot of fun this year and the fans are gonna see a different style of play and it's going to be exciting" said Ord.

The Binghamton Bearcats are back at BU on Sunday July 1st and start practicing Monday July 2nd.
