The man of the hour in rumble town or should I say the man of the month, is Rumble Ponies 1st basemen and slugger Peter Alonso. Alonso was named Eastern League Player of the Month and is now the only Rumble Pony to receive the honor.

The twenty-three year old was selected by the New York Mets in the 2016 draft out of the University of Florida and the honor is highly deserving considering  Alonso leads the league in 6 different hitting categories. According to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Alonso leads the league in batting average, hits (31), extra-base hits (14), total bases (59), on base-percentage, slugging percentage and OPS (1.282)

In 21 games Alonso has gone 31-for-76 with 7 doubles, 7 home-runs and 19 rbi's.

Tim Tebow had a lot of kinds words to say about Alonso today before their game. "Peter has been phenomenal and he's probably one of the hottest pitchers in all of baseball regardless of what league you want to talk about. He's probably one of the best hitters in baseball. He's gifted, he works hard, he's got a great approach... you cant say enough about how he's been hitting and also his ability to have some really clutch hits as well." Said Tebow
