Garnar is only appointing one deputy county executive instead of the allotted two. The second position was not in the 2017 budget. If Garnar had added a second deputy executive, it would have cost Broome County approximately $100,000. He will announce several department head changes next week.

Garnar also announced the expansion of Open Office Hours to include some evenings and
weekends. In addition, Garnar and his staff will hold “pop-up” office hours throughout the
county, increasing access to members of the community unable to visit the office in downtown
Binghamton. Schedules for these new office hour initiatives will be available in the new year.
“I really like the executive team we are putting together.

They come from different political backgrounds and different parts of the county but what unites them is their love for Broome
County and their energy to really work hard for the taxpayers of Broome County”, said Garnar.
