After seven on Thursday evening, Fox 40 received scanner reports of a fire in Marathon, New York. Authorities confirm the fire with us and have told us that it is on Peck Street, across the street from the Marathon Fire Department.

Since the blaze was near the fire department, firefighters were on scene quickly and extinguished the flames quickly. The fire occurred in a home that was being used as an apartment. One man was reportedly upstairs at the time of the fire. He and his dog escaped unharmed.

As of Thursday night, details on any investigation into this incident are not being released. The cause of the fire is also not yet being released.
