VESTAL, N.Y. - Sophomore right fielder Chris McGee sparked a seven-run fifth inning with a three-run home run and Binghamton baseball rolled over Bucknell 14-2 in the team's home opener. Playing home in March for the first time in more than 25 years, the Bearcats (4-14) had three players with three RBI and did all their damage in three innings.

Scoreless after three innings, BU plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to get started. Sophomore DH Pat Britt ripped an RBI triple into the right field corner to open the scoring. Sophomore catcher Jason Agresti followed with an RBI double to the wall in right center and sophomore center fielder CJ Krowiak added a sacrifice fly to center to make it 3-0.

Bucknell (7-13) threatened in the top of the fifth but sophomore pitcher Robert Brown stranded two with a comebacker to the mound. Brown was the fourth of eight Bearcat pitchers who took the hill in a predetermined mid-week rotation.

In the bottom of the fifth, BU broke it open with seven runs on five hits. With the bases loaded and no out, junior left fielder Eddie Posavec ripped a shot off the Bison pitcher's leg to bring in a run. Britt then plated two with a double to right field, making it 6-0. Agresti's line out to right brought home another. Two batters later, McGee sent a 1-1 pitch over the wall in left center for his first home run of the season and the three-run shot made it 10-0.

The visitors got one back on a solo home run in the sixth but Binghamton erupted for four more runs in the eighth. Junior DH Darian Herncane dropped an RBI single into left, Agresti sent a sacrifice fly to the wall in center and sophomore shortstop Luke Tevlin capped BU's offensive output by pasting a two-out, 3-1 pitch over the left field wall. Bucknell scored a lone run in the ninth.

Freshman starter Nick Gallagher got the win after tossing two scoreless innings. Gallagher allowed just one hit and struck out a pair.

McGee and Britt each went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Agresti added three RBI. Tevlin drove in a pair with his long ball. Posavec went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Bearcats head to Orono on Friday in advance of a three-game conference-opening series at Maine. The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday and finish with a single game on Sunday.
