Catholic Charities Mental Health Program in Need of More Funding

By Fox 40 Staff.
A Catholic Charities program is at risk of losing full funding to budget cuts.
Directors and users of the mental health clubhouse, "The Four Seasons," met with the Human Services Commission of the Broome County Legislature Wednesday evening to make their case for keeping that money.
The program now runs the risk of being taken over by The Southern Tier Mental Health Association for $200 thousand less than what the Catholic Charities says is needed.
"Another agency really bid way under what we feel is needed to continue the service at the level that is needed and so we challenged that today," said Joseph Slavik, Director of the Catholic Charities Diocese of Syracuse.
The Human Services Commission tabled the vote Wednesday.
The issue will be revisited in the coming weeks.
