IN the Binghamton State office Building from 11am to 2pm, the American Red Cross managed to collect a total of 29 pints of blood, thanks to generous donors and support from both the Police and Fire Department of the city of Binghamton.

The competition, called Battle of the Badges, pitted the two Department against each other to see who could donate the most blood throughout the day. The demand for donors came after the recent sever winter weather that swept across the East Coast, which forced the cancellation of over 300 blood drives accross 20 states.

The American Red Cross is still in need of donors of all blood types, despite today's drive being a success. If you're interested in donating blood, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS to find out where you can donate.
