New York State Police have arrested a man for multiple felonies and misdemeanors for driving and crashing his car while intoxicated and transporting four children.


Andrew J. Adams, 35, of Oneonta was taken into custody after a 911 report of an erratic driver on Interstate 88 westbound who, prior to troopers arriving crashed into a guide rail near mile marker 33 in the Town of Sidney.


Police determined that Adams was driving while impaired by drugs when he crashed. At the time of his arrest he had his four children ages 8-12 in his car with him. No one was injured in the accident. While being processed for his arrest Adams became disorderly and swung and punched at troopers as they additionally restrained him.


Adams is being charged with felony of assault, four counts of felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with children under the age of 16, four counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor driving while ability impaired by drugs, the violation of harassment and several other traffic violations.


Adams was arraigned at the Town of Sidney court and was remanded to the Delaware County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 property bond. His next court date in the Town of Sidney is on February 26, 2016.
