David Bowie died yesterday after an 18-month battle with liver cancer.

The singer had just turned 69 on Friday.

A prominent figure of the glam rock era, Bowie was known for his eccentric fashion choices and risk-taking musical stylings, influencing future artists such as Madonna and Lady Gaga.

"From the very beginning he reinvented himself with every album," said Michael Nordberg, Customer Service Manager at Guitar Center.

"He always broke a lot of boundaries as far as what was acceptable within music, especially popular music in the 60s and 70s."

Bowie's last album "Blackstar" was released on his birthday, just 3 days ago.

Bowie leaves behind his wife, Iman and two children, including film director, Duncan Jones.
