Town of Union Discusses Health Insurance for Retired Elected Officials

A discussion on health insurance for retired elected officials was taken off the agenda, but Union Town Supervisor Rose Sotak said she voted against it.
What was originally supposed to be discussed tonight was a resolution to amend the Town of Union Employee Handbook to include health insurance for retired elected officials.
As of now, the handbook does not guarantee health insurance for them.
"I just don't feel at this point it's the time to be making those changes," said Sotak.
Sotak said that due to the current economy, she didn't think the budget should allow for these changes to be made at this time.
The board will revisit this issue in the coming weeks.
