Experts are saying that this year's El Nino weather system will be stronger than normal.
El Nino is the warming of waters near the Equator, which affects the jet stream patterns especially for this year's upcoming winter. Experts say that for our area there is no strong correlation between El Nino and temperature however the probability of seeing a fairly big snow storm is increased.
"It tends to inhibit tropical storm activity in the Atlantic which is actually good and if you like snow you have the chance of seeing a bigger snow storm than we typically see. As far as being worried, I would say around here not really," said Dave Nicosia of the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
Experts say that the West Coast will have a different experience with the possibility of heavy rains and mud-slides.
