The Town of Deposit is calling on the community to celebrate a weekend of wood cutting and entertainment.

It's all part of the 39th Annual Lumberjack Festival held in the town's Firemen's Field this weekend.

Hundreds came out Saturday to enjoy the event which includes more than 25 vendors selling a variety of items from wood carved statues to handmade jewelry. For the first time in five years there was even a Loggers Challenge with lumberjacks competing in wood cutting for a monetary prize.

"We're celebrating bringing the community together. We're named the lumberjacks, but the whole event is based on originally Deposit Day's Lumberjack Festival and that is a community event. It brings people from all areas. All locals come here to attend this," said President of the Lumberjack Festival John Alfano.

Activities continue Sunday starting at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. with a Family Day including activities like a coloring contest and bike giveaway.
