BINGHAMTON, NY - Jared King pelted the right-field wall with a tiebreaking double in the seventh to push the Binghamton Mets past the New Britain Rock Cats, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. Michael Fulmer went seven strong innings to guide the B-Mets to rubber match win, ending a skid of five consecutive winless series.

With the game tied at one in the seventh, Gavin Cecchini started a two-out rally by dumping a single into right and took second on a wild pitch. King, batting in the top third of the lineup for the first time since June 12, ripped a go-ahead double off the top of the right-field wall. King's drive snapped an 0-for-12 skid for the B-Mets with runners in scoring position.

New Britain had cashed in on an error to get on the board in the fourth. With a runner on second, Dustin Lawley booted Dean Espy's two-out grounder to third. Zach Osborne followed by lashing an RBI double to left, giving the Rock Cats a 1-0 lead.

Binghamton threatened early, but failed to break through against Rock Cats starter Matt Flemer. The righty escaped unscathed after allowing five to reach in his first three innings. Flemer stranded two in the third to start a stretch of nine straight B-Mets retired.

Brock Peterson ended the cruise for Flemer with one swing. Hitless in his previous 16 at-bats, the B-Mets first baseman blasted the righty's 0-2 pitch beyond the left-field wall. The game-tying drive was Peterson's fifth homer as a B-Met and 196th of his pro career.

After King's go-ahead drive in the seventh, Beck Wheeler worked a perfect eighth inning. Jon Velasquez tossed a spotless ninth to collect his tenth save.

Fulmer (4-1) allowed one unearned run and struck out seven over seven innings to earn his third win in his last six starts. Flemer (4-5) was touched for two runs on six hits over seven innings in the loss.

The B-Mets (43-32) venture to Maine for a four-game series against the Sea Dogs starting Friday at 7:00 PM. RHP John Gant takes the hill against RHP Justin Haley.
