Volunteers of America to Close its Thrift Stores

Volunteers of America Upstate New York is closing its thrift stores and recycling operations.
Volunteers of America currently operates 11 thrift stores in seven counties throughout upstate New York, including a store at 519 Hooper Road in Endwell.
VOA plans to close all of its thrift stores in three months. VOA employs 103 people in its resale division, which includes a mix of full and part-time positions.
The agency says it will work with employees to help them find new jobs. VOA will stop taking donations from the community immediately; however all household pick-ups that have already been schedule with VOA will be honored.
