Any time you can use the term "All-American" in a recruiting pitch, the job gets a little easier. That's what BU Head Cross Country Coach Annette Acuff is afforded after Jesse Garn placed 4th in the 800 meter finals at the NCAA Championships automatically earning First Team All-American Honors.

With his success and the reputation of the program already established by Erik Van Ingen and Rory Quiller, among others, the task of recruiting top talent becomes easier.

"It shows that we can bring in some great athletes and develop them," Acuff says. "They have an opportunity to be competitive at the national level. It's certainly been our vision in the past 5 or 6 years, ever since Rory Quiller was a national champion, I think it opened doors for a lot of athletes, and coaches to see that there's a lot of potential here."
