New York's tougher penalties to keep the most dangerous drivers off the road is working, according to new numbers from the Department of Motor Dehicles.

Since the 2012 regulations aimed at repeat offenders went into effect, the DMV denied licenses to about 75-hundred individuals.

The DMV permanently denied relicensing about four thousand drivers because they either had five or more DUI convictions or three or four in the last 25 years.
