Some locals are walking to raise money for local veterans.

Sunday the American Legion Post 1194 in Hillcrest held their 9th annual Veteran's Walk to help raise money to support local veterans and their families.

This year the walk also added a 5K.

After the walk participants could check out a car show, refreshments, karaoke and a silent auction with a flat screen TV and iPad for prizes. Contributions were made from local businesses including the Red and White Market, Animal Adventure and the Route 12 Diner.

"I'm a veteran myself, I'm a member of the 204th Engineers down here in Binghamton, and I know first hand what it means to have this kind of helping hand when you're in need. So being a post commander here, it's not only is it your duty, it's your responsibility ," said post commander of American Legion Post 1194 Brian Brown.

Organizers say the walk has raised nearly $100,000 in support of veterans since the fundraiser began nine years ago.
