Officials say a failure in wiring in the kitchen ceiling caused a fire in Owego which have left five pets unaccounted for and feared dead.


The fire broke out at 93 West Ave in the village yesterday afternoon. A resident was able to escape with one dog. She tried to get two dogs and three other cats but was unable to because conditions were too smoky.
